Connect Messenger
Bring your Facebook Page messages into the inbox and let the AI agent reply on Messenger, step by step.
Once connected, anyone who messages your company's Facebook Page lands in your inbox, and the AI agent replies on Messenger. Messenger is available on Growth and Pro, and during the free trial.
You connect through your company's own Meta app. If you already connected WhatsApp, reuse the same app and System user.
Want us to do it for you?
Request the Meta setup add-on from Settings → Plan & billing (Add-ons).
Before you start
- A Facebook Page for your company, added to your Business portfolio.
- A developer account at developers.facebook.com.
- In PropDrop: you're the owner or a manager.
Part 1: The app and the token
Prepare the app
- Already have an app from WhatsApp? Open it and add the Messenger use case under Use cases.
- No app yet? Create a Business app with the Messenger use case and link it to your Business portfolio.
Then connect your Facebook Page to the app in the Messenger settings.
A System user with the right assets
Business settings → System users → Add (Admin), or reuse the WhatsApp one. Under Assign assets:
- Apps → your app → Manage app.
- Pages → your Page → Full control, including messaging.
Generate the token
Generate new token with expiry Never and these permissions:
pages_messagingpages_manage_metadatapages_show_listpages_read_engagementbusiness_management(optional)pages_read_user_contentandpages_manage_engagement(only for comment replies on Page posts)
Your WhatsApp token won't work here
The WhatsApp token has no Page permissions. Generate a new token for Messenger. Each PropDrop channel keeps its own token, so WhatsApp isn't affected.
Copy the App secret and Page ID
- App secret: App settings → Basic → App secret → Show.
- Facebook Page ID: your Page → About → Page transparency, or Meta Business Settings → Accounts → Pages.
Part 2: Connect in PropDrop
Switch on Facebook Messenger
In Settings → Channels & integrations, switch on Facebook Messenger.
Paste the details and click Connect
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| System user access token | The new token with Page permissions |
| App secret | App settings → Basic |
| Facebook Page ID | Your Page's ID |
PropDrop fetches the Page token itself and subscribes your Page to messages automatically. When it works you'll see "Connected to Meta" and your Page's name.
Part 3: The webhook in your Meta app
For Messenger you paste the webhook yourself:
- In your Meta app: Messenger → Settings → Webhooks.
- Paste the Callback URL and Verify token from PropDrop and click Verify and save. Verified updates in PropDrop.
- Subscribe to
messages,messaging_postbacks,message_deliveriesandmessage_reads(plusfeedif you'll use comment replies).
Part 4: Live mode and App Review
Switch the app to Live
At the top of the app dashboard. Meta asks for a Privacy Policy URL.
App Review
Without approval, your Page only receives messages from app admins and testers. To receive messages from the public, Meta requires App Review with Advanced Access for pages_messaging, and business verification.
Optional: Human Agent
Once Human Agent is approved in App Review, your team can reply up to 7 days after the customer's last message. Without it, replies are limited to 24 hours. The AI agent itself never replies after 24 hours.
PropDrop shows Human Agent (replies up to 7 days) with its status:
- Not checked yet: PropDrop finds out the first time your team replies after 24 hours.
- Approved: Meta accepted a reply sent after 24 hours.
- Not approved: Meta refused it. Got approved since? Click Re-check.
Test it
- From a Facebook account that isn't a Page admin (or a tester while the app is in review), message your Page.
- Last event updates in PropDrop.
- You'll find a Messenger conversation in Conversations with the agent's reply. The customer sees "seen" and "typing…".
PropDrop fills in the customer's name when Meta allows it. If it can't, the agent asks for the name in the chat.
